Caught

So the rail could fall — could fail —
Only has to bring me across.
And I been caught with my head down, thinking a thought.
Only had to keep us apart.
Up to the deadline
All of your fears happen all the time
Hope in the headlights
Forgotten when I go, forgiven on your own
One of yours, one of mine
You and me in a headline
When the heat comes down
And I know you’re there, and I crumble and stare.
Mississauga winter, white hair.
Keeping it fair; keeping it all up; keeping it deep in the air.
It's all I ever needed: keys and a rocking chair.
Up to the deadline
All of your fears happen all the time
Hope in the headlights
Forgotten when I go, forgiven on your own
One of yours, one of mine
You and me in a headline
Was one of mine, it was one of yours
Leaving here again oh Lord
When the heat comes down
When the heat comes down
One of yours, one of mine
You and me in a headline
Was one of mine, it was one of yours
Leaving here again oh Lord
When the heat comes down
When the heat comes down

The Wrong Rebecca

Rebecca – or should it be Becky? I never knew what to do with your name
You're not a fan of the abbreviation, I know
Sometimes I used it anyway
But I wasn't calling to say so, didn't call you to apologize
I was calling a different Rebecca – my phone does this sometimes
Shouldn'ta made that call,
Shouldn't've even been in the car at all, yeah,
Slow to resist, now I'm taking a hit of annihilation
And if I hadn'ta set you free,
Then you'd'a probably been in here in the car with me, yeah
Funny cause I never thought I could die of a conversation
With the wrong Rebecca, so this is a surprise
Seven in the morning and the sun is in my eyes
And if you see me let me know what happens when I go,
I'm curious to let the night decide
So Becky – I mean, Rebecca – I started out thinking
How you and I were never in love
And even when we tried out a kiss, meh, it wasn't on the up-and-up
How I could never make a decision
So I started working in the coffee shop
They wouldn't even let me into the kitchen
But I promise to never stop
And I never stopped
And I shouldn'ta made that call,
Shouldn't've even been in the car at all, yeah,
Slow to resist, now I'm taking a hit of annihilation
And if I hadn'ta set you free,
Then you'd'a probably been in here in the car with me, yeah
Funny cause I never thought I could die of a conversation
With the wrong Rebecca, so this is a surprise
Seven in the morning and the sun is in my eyes
And if you see me let me know what happens when I go,
I'm curious to let the night decide
Becky, Becca, Bebe, my lips are sticking on the sound
Looking up to see that 18-wheeler bearing down
There's no time to tell you all that's on my mind
There's no time to tell you anything but
Hi
So I guess I wish I'd been a better person, or whatever
Shoulda been kind to the poor
Definitely shouldn't have pretended that I wasn't at home
When the Green Party came to my door
Had an idea for a great invention, probably woulda changed the world
But here I am in the oncoming lane
On the phone with a Rebecca who will never be my girl
And I shouldn'ta made that call,
No, shouldn't've even been in the car at all, yeah,
Slow to resist, now I'm taking a hit of annihilation
And if I hadn'ta set you free,
Yeah you'd'a probably been in here in the car with me, yeah
Funny cause I never thought I could die of a conversation
With the wrong Rebecca, so this is a surprise
Seven in the morning and the sun is in my eyes
